"Follow for Now, Vol. 2 picks up and pushes beyond the first volume with a more diverse set of interviewees and interviews. The intent of the first collection was to bring together voices from across disciplines, to cross-pollinate ideas. At the time, social media wasn’t crisscrossing all of the lines and categories held a bit more sway. Volume 2 aims not only to pick up where Follow for Now left off but also to tighten its approach with deeper subjects and more timely interviews.Featuring conversations with thinkers like Carla Nappi, Rita Raley, Dominic Pettman, Ian Bogost, Mark Dery, Douglas Rushkoff, and Dave Allen, and musicians like Tyler, The Creator, Matthew Shipp, Sean Price, Rammellzee, and Sadat X, as well as writers like Ytasha L. Womack, Chris Kraus, Pat Cadigan, Bob Stephenson, Simon Critchley, Simon Reynolds, Malcolm Gladwell, and William Gibson, Follow for Now, Vol. 2 is another critical cross-section of the now."

The fact that media technologies influence our feelings seems obvious. But how do digital cameras or MP3 players change how we perceive, feel, and emotionally assess the world? This book examines the connection between media technology and affect on the level of the poetic patterns of audiovisual images, combining rigorous methods of film analysis with praxeological and genre-theoretical approaches.

It didn’t take long for companies to understand the opportunities residing within social media. Quickly, new businesses have been developed to benefit from them like Social Media Consultancy services. It represents, for LiveArea, the opportunity to develop while aligning to its vision of expansion to become a full-range agency. Therefore, this thesis aims to describe the development, the processes and the limitations encountered through a one-year project within the company. This work is composed of three main sections. The first section evaluates the stakes involved with the project through the analysis of both the inner and the outer contexts. Three audits are carried out on the strategy, on the organization and on the information system of the firm. These analyses confirm the need of a new social media consultancy department within LiveArea. The second section deals with the content of the project. Through (i) in-depth analyses of the market and demand for social media consultancy services, (ii) the assessment and selection of the most attractive technologies and (iii) the review of the critical factors of a successful adoption of such technologies, we propose two packages of social media consultancy services and discuss their implications for LiveArea. Finally, the third section describes the change management process put in place. We identify the stakeholders of the project and detail the means put in action to ensure the convergence of their interests in the project.

This volume is a response to the growing need for new methodological approaches to the rapidly changing landscape of new forms of performative practices. The authors address a host of contemporary phenomena situated at the crossroads between science and fiction which employ various media and merge live participation with mediated hybrid experiences at both affective and cognitive level. All essays collected here move across disciplinary divisions in order to provide an account of these new tendencies, thus providing food for thought for a wide readership ranging from performative studies to the social sciences, philosophy and cultural studies.

Media and communication have become ubiquitous in today's societies and affect all aspects of life. On an individual level, they impact how we learn about the world, how we entertain ourselves, and how we interact with others. On an organisational level, the interactions between media and organisations, such as political parties, NGOs, businesses and brands, shape organisations' reputation, legitimacy, trust and (financial) performance, as well as individuals' consumer, political, social and health behaviours. At the societal level, media and communication are crucial for shaping public opinion on current issues such as climate change, sustainability, diversity, and well-being. Media challenges are widespread and include mis- and disinformation, the negative impact of algorithms on our information diets, challenges to our privacy, cyberbullying, media addiction, and unwanted persuasion, among many others. All this makes the study of media and communication crucial. This book provides a broad overview of the ways in which people create, use, and experience their media environment, and the role of media and communication for individuals, organisations, and society. The chapters in the book were written by researchers from the Amsterdam School of Communication Research (ASCoR) on the occasion of its 25th anniversary. ASCoR is today the largest research institute of its kind in Europe and has developed over the past 25 years into one of the best communications research institutes in the world.
